Russian television and film production companies plan to set up an organization to combat online piracy.
“We are planning to set up an organization where all copyright holders will be represented to deal with this issue in a comprehensive and system-wise manner,” Alexander Akopov, Amedia president and chairman of the Film and Television Producers Association, said at a press conference at Interfax on Friday.
“The organization will be joined by television stations as the holders of copyrights to a significant part of the content, companies making films and TV serials, and legal net resources posting videos on the Internet,” Akopov said.
President Vladimir Putin signed a law on July 3 that protects the holders of copyrights on the Internet, earlier reports said.
From no on operators will have the right to block websites illegally posting feature, or TV films, or links to them.
If a content is stolen the copyright holder will have the right to refer a compliant to a court.
